Modern AI tools are extraordinary, and most people use a tiny fraction of what they can do. Not because the tools are confusing — because writing prompts is harder than it looks.

You know what you want. The AI doesn't. The gap between those two is where the frustration lives: tweak, retry, reword, give up, paste it into ChatGPT a fourth time and accept “close enough”. We've all done it.

What Prompt Orange does

Prompt Orange asks you a small number of structured questions about what you want, then writes a prompt that follows the patterns that actually produce good output: clear context, defined audience, specific format, and explicit constraints on what to leave out.

We score your prompt out of 100 against the patterns that consistently work, and we tell you what's missing. No secrets, no “prompt engineering tricks” — just the things that experienced users do by reflex, made repeatable.

Where the prompt patterns come from

Every template, role page, and tool guide on this site was built by hand from the patterns we've seen work across thousands of prompts — in our own work and from the public prompt-engineering community. We weren't born experts; we just got tired of wasting hours on the wrong prompts and started writing down what worked.

We update the templates regularly as model capabilities shift. If something stops working in your hands, tell us — that signal goes straight back into the next revision.

The prompt builder is free and doesn't require an account. We're based in the UK and we don't store your prompts on our servers in any identifiable way — see the privacy policy for the detail.
